Here at EFR we have been arguing strongly that the Septuagint translation of the OT is far superior to the Masoretic (MT) rabbinical version, which is a distortion of the original Hebrew.

 

 

Proof that the MT is a deliberate distortion of the original Hebrew:

 

It is apparent to me that the early Christian writers had their own Hebrew sources from which to translate the OT.  Since the 24 Courses of Temple priests were still being manned by true Judahites (not Jews), it is quite likely that Matthew and others would have had access to these Scriptures.  It is also apparent to me that the Masoretes, who were the followers of Pharisaism, and also the literal descendants of the Pharisees, had an agenda of distorting the OT in order to attack Christianity.- Eli
