Who are the ‘Strangers’ in Romans, 2Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, 1Timothy, Hebrews, 1Peter, and 3John? Let’s find out!

The identity and status of the “strangers” in the Bible CANNOT be interpreted by assumption or by a universal application of one definition. We need to determine which word is being used — and the context in which it is used — in order to determine the person’s identity and relationship to Israel.

There are a few different words used for stranger.

It is important to know the differences between the meanings of each word.

Some strangers are kinsman, some are referring to estranged kinsman.

Some strangers are not kinsman, meaning alien, foreign, of another race.

Some strangers are those Israelites not of the seed of Aaron or of the tribe of Levi.

This study is an examination of each word defining the ‘stranger’ and each of its occurrences, and identifying just who the stranger is.
