ACH (2093) I Ask YOU #6 – Records And Tapes
In today’s episode of, “I Ask YOU,” originally broadcast on March 17 2023, Andy presents a show entitled, “Records And Tapes.”
“I Ask YOU,” is a solo show in which you, the audience, can choose to participate. You can do this by answering the questions privately to yourself, or alternatively I invite you to email any answers you wish to share with me directly via my email address, andrewcarringtonhitchcock@hotmail.com, which I may read out on a subsequent show.
Throughout, “I Ask YOU,” I will pose questions that I will answer from my perspective, but which I have written for the purpose of giving you the opportunity to answer for yourselves, in the hope it may provide you with food for thought, that you may not have otherwise considered, had you not heard the questions today.
Today’s Questions:
How old were you when you got your first record, and do you remember what it was?
How about tapes or cassettes?
What were the guys at your local record shop like?
Did you used to listen to the Top 40 or Billboard 100 on the radio, and tape record your favourite songs?
Did you use a cassette walkman to listen to music, and if so did that have any influence on you choosing to buy cassettes instead of records?
Did you ever collect records or tapes, and if so on what basis?
What do you think of the renewed interest in records today, and how many artists are issuing limited runs of records today?
Do you think Compact Discs were an improvement on records and tapes?
How about mp3’s and streaming today, which have effectively done to Compact Discs, what Compact Discs did to Records and Tapes. Do you miss anything from the convenience of receiving music instantly via the internet, than how you used to buy it on record, tape or cd?
